In September the MATS conference returns to the Coventry Arena and is planned to be bigger and better than ever with our headline sponsor Mitie. Over the years the conference has had a number of themes and this year we plan to follow on from the last conference with the theme of the aftermath of an accident with a court room drama following the interview under caution last time, use of digital technology in the field and finally youth in the industry with new apprenticeship schemes to support. The conference and MATS group is here to support all the industry so please join us and support this event and help us make it the best yet.

The star attraction this year and the area that will take the conference afternoon slot is the exciting mock safety trial. This will mock-up an ‘at height’ event that results in an accident/injury and then watching the events play out in a court room drama. This will be demonstrated on stage with OAHLAW who will have trained legal personal fulfilling the legal roles and volunteers fulfilling the rest, you will get to see the prosecution and defence go hammer and tongs along with the sentencing guidelines being applied, if of course, someone is GUILTY!
You will be welcomed into the arena and be able to immediately meet many companies and peers from the industry. You can chill, network or visit all the exhibitor stands and have chance to understand changes in equipment, process and catch up on new innovations.
The digital theme is continued with new robots by Acuity Robotics (acuityrobotics.co.uk) that between them, can scale monopoles internally and externally. Real time data and imagery is related to a proprietary Infrastructure Insights Data Dashboard (ARIID) which delivers asset monitoring, analysis and reporting. The external robot can be equipped to inspect the surface of the structure and other attachments include a metal thickness sensor, thermal and depth cameras. We are all looking at reducing risks and site attendance from an environmental perspective, along with improved asset monitoring and these new digital robots are a unique way of doing this.
It is no secret we are an ageing workforce, with this in mind and with the Mitie opening of the conference which will cover the great work to implement an apprenticeship scheme and vocational qualification for Telecoms recruits. It is important to promote this and also understand the minds of these apprentices and why they chose our industry. In this section we will look at the good work being done and talk to some new faces who have joined our industry.
As always and by popular demand we are inviting our exhibitors to stand on stage and talk about their area of expertise, the difference this year is they can cover any area they like so it could get quite interesting.
